Athletics Offence Continues Onslaught In Win

Dawson Creek, British Columbia – Mac Caron and Dennis Rix has two goals a piece as the Grande Prairie Athletics (4-2-1) offence continued to roll Thursday night following a 9 to 4 win over the Dawson Creek Canucks at the Memorial Arena.

Following a 4 to 3 overtime loss on November 10th Grande Prairie has rolled with three straight victories outscoring their opponents 27 to 9.

Unlike the last meeting between the two clubs the Athletics wasted little time and opened the scoring without looking back. The Athletics outshot the Canucks 17 to 12 in the opening twenty but found themselves up 3 to 0 thanks to goals from Mac Caron, Dennis Rix and returnee Tanner Labbe who was playing in his first game of the season.

In the second, Dawson opened the scoring early to pull within two but it was short lived following a shot from Devin Bell. Caron notched his second of the night making it 5 to 1 before the Canucks rallied back with two goals to make a game of it after forty minutes.

That would be as close as they got.

Mark Stojan, Blake Clement, Lee Campbell and Dennis Rix (2nd) shorthanded rounded out the scoring in the final frame to earn the 9 to 4 win.

The Athletics return to the road to wrap up a four game road trip with a game against Spirit River oN Saturday night. Join us on Facebook and Twitter for up to the minute scores and results.
